Free Primary and Secondary Practice Workbooks for Years 1 to IGCSE

British Learning Centre has published free Practice Workbooks for primary and secondary pupils. They sit alongside our free bilingual booklets, which support classroom vocabulary in Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Russian. The workbooks take a different approach: printable English and maths practice, matched to the British curriculum, ready to open or download as PDFs.
This guide sets out what is in each set, which year groups and courses they cover, and how families can use them at home.
Primary Practice Workbooks (Years 1 to 6)
There are 24 workbooks across six year groups and four subjects. The page describes them as printable English and maths workbooks for Years 1 to 6, following the British primary curriculum. Each one explains a skill, gives two sheets of practice, and has the answers at the back. Every one is free.
For each year from Year 1 to Year 6 you will find:
- Arithmetic (Maths) — calculation skills unit by unit, with worked examples, practice sheets and answers
- Grammar & Punctuation (English)
- Reading Comprehension (English)
- Spelling (English)
Browse and filter by year at britishlearningcentre.com/primary-workbooks. Each workbook opens with a start test and a progress tracker, and ends with an end test. Every unit follows four steps: Learn it (explanation, key words and a worked example), Practise (Sheet A), Challenge (Sheet B), then Check with the answers at the back and tick the tracker.
Secondary Practice Workbooks (KS3 to IGCSE)
There are 25 workbooks across three courses and three subjects. The page describes printable workbooks for KS3 Maths and for Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Maths, English and ESL. Each unit has clear notes, practice, exam-style questions and a mark scheme. Every one is free.
- KS3 · Years 7–9: Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 Maths, matched to the KS3 National Curriculum and Cambridge Lower Secondary Stages 7–9.
- Cambridge IGCSE: Maths 0580 (six topic workbooks plus Exam Practice); First Language English 0500 (Reading; Directed Writing & Composition); ESL 0510/0511 (Reading & Writing; Listening, with scripts at the back; Speaking).
- Pearson Edexcel International GCSE: Maths A 4MA1 (six topic workbooks plus Exam Practice); English Language A 4EA1 (Paper 1 and Paper 2); ESL 4ES1 (Reading & Writing; Listening; Speaking).
Browse the full set at britishlearningcentre.com/secondary-workbooks. Each workbook opens with a progress tracker so your child can colour units red, amber or green. Every unit follows four steps: Key knowledge, Practice (Sheet A), Exam-style questions on Sheet B with marks shown, then Check & reflect with the mark scheme.
How families get them
Both collections are marked Free to download. On each workbook card, use Open to view the PDF in the browser, or Download to save it and print at home. There is no charge. These are English-language practice materials for the British curriculum (and Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel courses at secondary); they are separate from the bilingual booklets library.
How to use them at home
A short, regular session works well: one unit, marked before moving on. Younger pupils may start with Sheet A and return to Sheet B later; older students preparing for Checkpoint or IGCSE can move more quickly into the exam-style questions. Keep the progress tracker visible so your child can see what is already secure.
