Wycombe Abbey opens its doors, Dulwich prepares to launch and open-day season begins: week in international schools (19 – 23 October 2026)

By British Learning Centre

British Learning Centre “Week in international schools” series cover — branded purple and gold graphic for the Bangkok and Eastern Seaboard weekly round-up.

Each week we draw together the most useful international-school news for families in Bangkok and on the Eastern Seaboard: openings, admissions news, market trends and dates worth putting in the diary. This instalment covers Monday 19 to Friday 23 October 2026.

It was a quieter week for headlines, but an important one for planning. Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok held its formal opening ceremony, Dulwich College Bangkok confirmed its official launch for early November, and SBS International Bilingual School Rangsit relaunched with a fully bilingual model. Above all, the autumn open-day season has now begun in earnest, with events running every week from now until Christmas.

Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok holds its opening ceremony

Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok held its official opening ceremony on Thursday 22 October, as reported in a sector round-up by Prachachat Turakij. Mr Ash was delighted to attend the ceremony on behalf of British Learning Centre, and you can watch our video from the day here [VIDEO LINK]. The school opened to pupils in August 2026 and offers a British curriculum from Nursery to Year 10, with boarding available from Year 7. Prachachat reports annual fees of approximately ฿702,000 to ฿1.28 million.

The same report notes that Dulwich College Bangkok will hold its official launch on Thursday 5 November, with annual fees of approximately ฿711,000 to ฿1.11 million. Mr Ash has been invited to the launch and will be attending, so look out for our report from the day. Two leading British schools formally opening within a fortnight of each other is a clear sign of the confidence that international school groups have in the Bangkok market.

Prachachat's round-up also highlights a wider trend: families from Myanmar are now among the leading foreign buyers of Thai property, which is adding to demand for private and international schooling. It reports that around 10% of pupils at King's College International School Bangkok come from other Asian countries.

For families considering Wycombe Abbey, the school's Dove Scholarship Information Session and Open Day takes place on Saturday 14 November at 09:00, and scholarship applications for 2027–2028 entry close on 16 November 2026.

SBS International Bilingual School Rangsit relaunches with a bilingual Cambridge model

In north Bangkok, SBS International Bilingual School Rangsit has relaunched its approach, as reported by MGR Online. Every early-years and primary lesson is now taught by a pair of teachers, one English-speaking and one Thai-speaking, within a Cambridge curriculum. The school aims for strong English without losing Thai language and identity, and reports that 98% of its long-stay IGCSE candidates achieved A*–C grades in 2026.

SBS International Bilingual School Rangsit has announced open days on Friday 30 October and Tuesday 17 November, both from 09:00 to 11:00. For families weighing a fully international school against a bilingual one, it is a useful model to compare.

Open-day season begins

The first open days of the autumn took place this week, including Regent's International School Bangkok's Early Years and Primary Open House on Friday 23 October. From here, there is something almost every week until mid-December. Several schools have also added dates this week: BASIS International School Bangkok has announced an open house on Saturday 14 November, Dulwich College Bangkok has extended its weekly Curiosity Friday tours to 18 December, and Highgate International School Thailand has added a second Senior School Tour on Thursday 12 November owing to high demand.

Dates for the diary

Families can book a place at the events below through British Learning Centre. Where an event has no booking page yet, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Saturday 31 October and Saturday 14 November are especially busy, so families hoping to see more than one school on those days may wish to plan their route early.

Why it matters for BLC families

With more schools than ever competing for each pupil, families have genuine choice, and schools are working hard to stand out. That is good news, but it also makes the decision harder. Fees continue to rise by around 5% a year, so it is worth looking beyond the headline name: a well-chosen mid-priced school, supported by targeted tuition where it is needed, can be an excellent route to the same outcomes.

British Learning Centre's school-placement support can help you build a realistic shortlist, compare new and established schools side by side, plan open-day visits and prepare for entrance and scholarship assessments. Our UK-curriculum tuition, in Pattaya, at Lasalle's Avenue in Bangkok and online, supports pupils through admissions tests, scholarship rounds and the move from primary to secondary. Every pupil can start with a free assessment in English and maths, with a written report.

Closing

One leading British school formally opening its doors, another preparing to launch and a full calendar of open days: the coming weeks are the right time for families to visit, compare and ask questions. If you would like help planning visits or finding the right school, British Learning Centre is glad to help.
