How to choose an international school in Thailand without drowning in tabs

If you are comparing international schools in Thailand, the hard part is rarely finding names. It is knowing which ones actually fit your child: the right age range, a tuition budget you can sustain, a curriculum that leads somewhere useful, and a commute or boarding arrangement your family can live with.
That is what our School Finder is for. A few quick questions, about two minutes, and you get a ranked shortlist matched to what you care about most. Then, if you want a person beside you from first enquiry to first day of term, our placement team is there. The finder is free to use. Our placement support is free for families too, because we are paid through our partnerships with schools, not by you.

Why more tabs is a terrible school shortlist
Most directories treat every school as equal. You scroll past logos, skim fee bands that may be out of date, and end up with a longlist that still needs someone who knows admissions calendars, entrance expectations, and which campuses actually suit a Year 6 child who needs English support.
Families placing into Pattaya, Bangkok, Chonburi and further afield tell us the same things: they want British IGCSE and A-Level pathways, or IB, or something bilingual; they need clarity on boarding versus day school; and they do not want to waste tours on schools that were never realistic for age or budget.
A ranked shortlist is simply a better first step than a flat A-Z list.
What the School Finder asks (and why each question matters)
The questionnaire is short on purpose. Each step maps to a real filter families use when they shortlist well.
Where you want to be. Bangkok, Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin / Cha-am, Koh Samui, and further options if you are open to wider Thailand. If you pick Bangkok, you can narrow to zones such as Sukhumvit / Thong Lo / Ekkamai, Sathorn / Silom / Riverside, or Bang Na / Samut Prakan, so we prioritise a realistic daily commute rather than a pin on a map.
Your child's age. Early years (2-5), primary (6-11), secondary (12-16), or sixth form (16-18). Schools that do not cover that age drop out of the hard match. No more "lovely campus, wrong year group."
Annual tuition budget per child. Brackets from under ฿150,000 up to ฿850,000+ if you have no firm limit. You can choose more than one band if you are still deciding. Budget is treated seriously in the match, with a little flexibility so a strong school just outside a hard line is not always lost.
Curriculum. British (IGCSE / A-Level), International Baccalaureate, American (AP / High School), bilingual / other, or no strong preference. This is the question that shapes exams and university routes later.
Boarding. Essential, day school only, or either. If boarding is essential, day-only schools fall away.
Student community. Very international, a balanced mix, Thai-rooted / bilingual, or no preference. Useful when you care how the school feels day to day, not only what is on the prospectus.
Size. Large and well-resourced, small and personal, or no preference.
Learning support (SEN). Essential, nice to have, or not needed: dyslexia, ADHD, additional needs, or English support. If it is essential for your child, say so early.
What matters most (up to three). Strong academic results; sports and facilities; top accreditation and reputation (CIS, WASC, BSO, IB authorised); value for money; arts, music and drama. These weight the ranking when several schools all clear the hard filters.
Nothing fancy. The point is to stop comparing schools that were never going to work.
What you get at the end
When you finish, you unlock a ranked shortlist for your family: top matches, not a dump of every school in the database. On the standalone finder you can also receive a branded PDF of your results. You can retake the questionnaire if your answers change.
You will be asked for a name and email (phone is optional) so we can send or show the shortlist. We use those details to deliver the results and to follow up only if you ask for help with applications. We do not sell them on.
If your filters were too tight, the tool will say so and suggest widening budget, region, or boarding. That is better than a fake list of poor fits.
The finder is the start. Placement is the rest of the journey.
Many families stop at a shortlist. The ones who settle faster usually want a guide through what comes next.
Our placement process covers:
- Initial consultation
- Application support
- Scholarship guidance
- Entrance exams
- School tours
- Ongoing support
Visa guidance for the family sits inside that support. So does honesty about readiness: British Learning Centre is a UK-curriculum tuition centre as well as a placement partner. We prepare students for entry to the schools we work with, through assessment, a tailored study plan, and classroom work that matches what admissions teams actually look for.
On the placements page you will also find partner schools we work with closely, including Rugby School Thailand, Regents International School Pattaya, St. Andrews International School Green Valley, Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok, Brighton College International School Bangkok, SISB, Highgate International School Thailand, KIS International School, and others. The finder itself looks across a much wider Thailand set so you are not limited to partners alone when you are still exploring.

Who this is for
- Expat and Thai families comparing international schools in Thailand for the first time
- Parents relocating to Bangkok, Pattaya or the Eastern Seaboard who need a shortlist before tours
- Families weighing boarding against day school, or British pathways against IB
- Anyone who wants placement help without paying an agency fee to the school-hunting side of the process
Ages we place: roughly 2 to 18.
How to use it this week
- Open the School Finder (https://schoolfinder.britishlearningcentre.com/) or the School finder section on School Placements (https://britishlearningcentre.com/placement).
- Answer the questions honestly. If you are unsure on budget or curriculum, choose more than one option where the tool allows.
- Unlock your ranked shortlist.
- Tick the box for application help if you want assessment, a study plan, and guidance through admissions.
- Book a free consultation, or a free trial and assessment, if you want us beside you for the next step.
Choosing a school should feel like a decision, not a research project that never ends. Start with a shortlist that already respects age, budget and what your family actually values. Then talk to someone who has walked the admissions path with families before.
