About this phonics check

This is a phonics check from the British Learning Centre, covering the Letters and Sounds phases, testing whether a child can decode the grapheme–phoneme correspondences taught at each phase. We use the same checks with our own students in Pattaya and Bangkok to see where a child is secure and where a gap is opening, so the result is a teaching judgement rather than a score out of ten.
There are 41 questions, and it marks itself as soon as your child finishes — with a percentage and encouraging feedback rather than a bare mark. Sign in before or after and the result is saved to your child's record, where you, their teacher and the school can see it alongside everything else they have taken.
